SEBI Mandates Risk Messages on Broker Platforms

October 8, 2026

From November 2026, SEBI mandates display of investor awareness and risk disclosures on brokers' websites and trading apps.

Brokers Must Display Risk Disclosures on Digital Platforms

Effective 1 November 2026, SEBI requires all stock brokers to display investor awareness messages and risk disclosures on their websites and trading applications. The mandate is part of Project Jagrook’s strategy to promote informed trading and reduce speculative behavior among retail investors.

Messages must be prominently displayed and include warnings on market volatility, leverage risks, and potential loss of capital. SEBI has prescribed standardized content and placement guidelines to ensure visibility. The requirement applies to all client-facing digital interfaces.

Compliance teams at brokerage firms must integrate these disclosures into UX design and obtain internal approvals. Non-compliance may attract regulatory penalties. The rule reflects a growing regulatory emphasis on 'nudging' investor behavior through design-based disclosures.
