From November 2026, SEBI requires all stockbrokers to display investor awareness messages and risk disclosures on websites and trading apps.
Brokers Must Display Risk Warnings on Digital Platforms
SEBI has mandated all registered stockbrokers to display prominent investor awareness messages and risk disclosures on their websites and trading applications effective November 1, 2026. The directive falls under Project Jagrook and aims to ensure that investors are consistently exposed to critical cautionary information before executing trades.
The messages will include warnings about market volatility, risks of leveraged trading, the importance of KYC compliance, and red flags of fraudulent schemes. SEBI expects the disclosures to be strategically placed—such as at login, before order placement, or during onboarding—to maximize visibility.
Implication: Brokers must revise user interface designs and integrate dynamic disclosure modules. Non-compliance may attract regulatory action under SEBI (Conduct of Intermediaries) Regulations. Legal teams should review platform workflows to ensure alignment with the new mandate.
