RBI to auction ₹23,000 crore in Treasury Bills: 91-day, 182-day, and 364-day tenors. Auction dates set for October 14, 2026, with settlement on October 15.
RBI Schedules ₹23,000 Crore T-Bill Auction
The Reserve Bank of India has scheduled the auction of Government of India Treasury Bills on October 14, 2026, with total notified amounts of ₹23,000 crore. The breakdown includes ₹8,000 crore each of 91-day and 182-day T-Bills, and ₹7,000 crore of 364-day T-Bills. Settlement will occur on October 15, 2026.
T-Bills are key instruments for managing short-term government cash mismatches and setting benchmark rates for money markets. They are zero-coupon securities issued at a discount and redeemed at par. Their yields influence pricing in the commercial paper and certificate of deposit markets.
Legal and treasury departments of corporates and financial institutions should monitor the auction results to calibrate short-term investment strategies. Participation requires adherence to RBI’s auction protocols, including demat account linking and bidding limits via the Negotiated Dealing System (NDS).
