RBI Appoints New Executive Director Shri Ravi Shankar

Shri Ravi Shankar has been appointed as the Executive Director of the RBI effective July 1, 2026.

New Executive Director Appointed

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Shri Ravi Shankar as the new Executive Director effective July 1, 2026. Prior to this promotion, Shri Shankar served as the Adviser-In-Charge of the Department of Statistics and Information Management.

With over three decades of experience in the RBI, Shri Shankar is well-positioned to lead key initiatives in corporate and banking statistics, as well as government securities market operations. Such leadership changes are critical for shaping the strategic direction of the central bank, particularly during times of economic fluctuation.
