RBI mandated that exporters must file the Electronic Declaration Form (EDF) with designated banks starting October 1, 2026, to streamline export documentation and compliance.
RBI Mandates EDF Filing for Exporters from October 1
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has implemented mandatory filing of the Electronic Declaration Form (EDF) by exporters of goods and services with their designated authorized dealer banks, effective October 1, 2026.
The EDF will digitize and centralize the declaration process for export transactions, replacing physical submissions and enhancing real-time monitoring. Exporters must submit EDF ahead of or at the time of shipment to ensure timely realization of export proceeds and compliance with foreign exchange regulations.
This reform aims to improve data accuracy, reduce paperwork, and integrate with existing systems like the Export Data Analysis (EDA). The move aligns with RBI's digital governance roadmap and strengthens India’s external trade infrastructure.
