RBI Amendments for Responsible Conduct in Urban Co-operative Banks

On June 24, 2026, the Reserve Bank of India introduced the third amendment directions applicable to Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs), focusing on customer protection in unauthorized electronic banking transactions. These amendments aim to enhance accountability and transparency among UCBs.

As part of the consolidation of previous instructions, these directives specify measures to limit customer liability for loses incurred during such transactions, thereby providing greater security to banking patrons and fostering a safer electronic banking environment.

Urban co-operative banks are encouraged to adopt these regulations promptly, as they play a crucial role in safeguarding customer interests and maintaining the integrity of financial operations in urban centers.
