RBI mandates migration of Non-Resident Deposits Comprehensive Single Return (NRD-CSR) to the CIMS Sankalan portal, replacing XBRL submissions to streamline forex data collection.
NRD-CSR Reporting Now via CIMS Sankalan Portal
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed all Authorised Dealers maintaining Non-Resident Deposits (NRD) accounts to submit the monthly Non-Resident Deposits – Comprehensive Single Return (NRD-CSR, R012) through the CIMS Sankalan portal, effective October 1, 2026. This replaces the previous requirement of XBRL-based submissions under AP (DIR Series) Circular No. 19 of 2013.
The shift aims to unify and streamline reporting under the Centralised Information Management System (CIMS), enhancing data accuracy and analytical capabilities for the RBI’s Department of Foreign Exchange. The NRD-CSR includes details of all NRE, NRO, and FCNR(B) deposits maintained by banks, and must be submitted by the seventh day of the succeeding month.
Legal and compliance departments in banks must ensure seamless integration of internal reporting systems with the CIMS Sankalan platform. Institutions are advised to conduct readiness assessments and update SOPs accordingly to avoid late submissions or data mismatches.
