Government Raises ₹33,000 Crore via G-Sec Reissue

The Government of India conducted the reissue of government securities worth ₹33,000 crore on October 23, 2026, through an auction held under the Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) scheme. The Reserve Bank of India set the cut-off rate for the underwriting commission payable to Primary Dealers.

As per the extant underwriting framework notified on November 14, 2007, Primary Dealers were required to commit to Minimum Underwriting Commitments (MUC), with additional participation allowed under ACU. The auction structure ensures broader market participation and stable yield dynamics during debt issuance.

This operation forms part of the government’s market borrowing programme. For legal and financial advisors, understanding the auction mechanics and commission structure is vital for clients involved in government securities trading and underwriting obligations.
