SEBI Aligns Mutual Fund Ads With Common Code

October 13, 2026

SEBI amends Mutual Fund advertisement rules, replacing Fifth Schedule with Common Advertisement Code under Intermediaries Regulations.

SEBI Mutual Funds Amendment 2026 Aligns Advertisement Rules With Common Code

SEBI has amended the SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations to replace the existing Fifth Schedule governing advertisements with the newly introduced Common Advertisement Code under the SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2025. This harmonizes promotional content standards across brokers, analysts, and fund houses.

The Common Code prohibits misleading performance claims, mandates risk disclosures, and regulates digital campaigns, influencer marketing, and back-tested data. It also applies to distributor-level promotions and digital aggregators.

Compliance officers at AMCs must revise approval workflows and training modules. The integration reduces duplication and strengthens investor protection in retail fund distribution.
