RBI Launches Q3 2026-27 Industrial and Services Outlook Surveys

October 13, 2026

The RBI has launched the 116th round of the Industrial Outlook Survey and the 51st round of the Services and Infrastructure Outlook Survey for Q3:2026–27. The surveys collect qualitative data on demand, employment, finance, and price trends from manufacturing and services firms.

Quarterly Outlook Surveys Launched for Q3:2026–27

The Reserve Bank of India has initiated the 116th round of the quarterly Industrial Outlook Survey (IOS) and the 51st round of the Services and Infrastructure Outlook Survey (SIOS) for the reference period October–December 2026 (Q3:2026–27). These surveys capture qualitative responses from Indian manufacturing, services, and infrastructure sector enterprises on current business conditions and expectations for Q4:2026–27.

Key indicators assessed include demand conditions, order books, sales, financial health, input costs, pricing power, and employment trends. The IOS and SIOS are critical tools for the RBI’s monetary policy formulation, offering ground-level insights not captured in quantitative data. Responses are collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed to gauge business sentiment and inflationary pressures.

Relevance for Economic and Legal Practitioners

While primarily economic in nature, these surveys inform regulatory and policy decisions affecting corporate and financial law. Legal professionals advising on corporate strategy, restructuring, or compliance should consider sectoral sentiment trends. The data may also be cited in regulatory submissions, policy advocacy, or expert opinions before tribunals dealing with economic distress or sector-specific regulations.
