Guide to SEBI Research Analyst Registration

October 18, 2026

SEBI sets educational and certification requirements for research analyst registration, including NISM exams and ongoing compliance.

Guide to SEBI Research Analyst Registration

Under the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014, individuals and entities issuing research reports must register with SEBI. Eligibility includes a graduate degree, relevant experience, and passing the NISM Research Analyst Certification Exam.

Registrants must deposit client protection funds under the RAASB, file Form A, and comply with disclosure norms, including conflict of interest statements and source attributions. Research must be based on reasonable and adequate analysis.

Ongoing obligations include annual returns, record retention, and adherence to the Common Advertisement Code. The registration framework aims to ensure research integrity and protect investors from biased or unsubstantiated recommendations.
